The New York State Weatherization Directors Association (NYSWDA) is accepting nominations for our unsung heroes in the Weatherization Assistance Program and we will be recognizing them at our Annual Awards Ceremony during the NYSCAA/NYSWDA Professional Development Conference being held in Ellicottville, June 11-13.

NYSWDA, through its award program, recognizes individuals at all levels of service that unselfishly dedicate their energy and expertise to the Weatherization Assistance Program and its’ mission.  These individuals may directly impact public policy, deliver a progressive local program held to the utmost standard, or demonstrate innovative office/field skills.  The recipients of these awards impact and improve the lives of low-income energy consumers across New York State the awards are our way of showing our appreciation for their hard work.

Welcome to the New York State Weatherization Directors Association (NYSWDA). As a tax exempt not-for-profit corporation, we are committed to supporting our members with education, advocacy, and innovations that promote energy conservation and economic self-sufficiency.

Since its’ inception in 1985, NYSWDA has made it a priority to be a 'go-to' resource for information, technical assistance, and the best practices in the home performance industry. Our trainers maintain an active interest in industry trends and are subject matter experts with years of field experience. Along with our trainers, our management team has over 25 years of experience in weatherization administration.

NYSWDA is recognized as a leading provider of building sciences training not only in New York State, but nationally.  Our training facilities located in East Syracuse, Buffalo, and Troy, NY are designed to integrate classroom training and laboratory exercises using the latest diagnostic equipment to provide energy auditors and field technicians an exceptional learning experience.

NYSWDA is a Building Performance Institute (BPI) affiliate as well as an approved BPI Testing Center.  We offer training as well as written and field tests onsite.  NYSWDA has maintained a close working relationship with BPI for over 20 years and all of our courses are eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEU’s).

NYSWDA also assists both Weatherization Assistance Programs (WAP) and NYSERDA low-income residential programs in obtaining bulk purchase pricing benefits.  NYSWDA’s procurement program provides regional pricing not only on basic energy conservation materials but health & safety materials, lead safe work practice materials, new construction windows, R-5 windows, fire rated foam, power vented water heaters, air conditioners, refrigerator/freezers and hybrid heat pump water heaters.

In addition to providing cutting edge and innovative training, bulk purchasing initiatives, we also work closely with policy regulators and implementing agencies to help achieve good public policy in the best interests of our homeowners and home performance professionals around the state.
