Course Description:
This online training course consists of 3 hours of lecture and videos suitable for entry level WAP field staff, including installers and energy auditors. Topics to be discussed are:

 

  • Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) Inspection Best Practices
  • Health & Safety issues inherent to mobile homes
  • Construction details and materials related to mobile homes
  • Problems related to energy efficiency of mobile homes
  • Differences between pre-1976 mobile homes and post-1976  manufactured housing
  • Standard weatherization/building performance priorities for mobile homes and manufactured homes
  • Opportunities for improving comfort, safety, and energy efficiency
  • Benefits of various retrofit options

 

All training is done to meet the standards of the NYS WAP. Students will come away with a basic understanding of the issues inherent to weatherizing mobile homes/manufactured housing. Training handouts will be available to download during the course.

 

This course is only an introduction; follow on training, both classroom and field, in mobile home weatherization techniques is highly recommended.
