Course Description:
This online course covers two, 3-hour sessions.  Successful course completion means the candidate must attend BOTH sessions in order to be awarded CEU’s and a certificate of completion.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER TWICE.  You will be sent a webinar invite for both sessions.  Each session is from 9:00am until noon.

 

Students will come away with a basic understanding of the issues inherent to understanding the concepts of building science as it relates to weatherizing and auditing residential buildings.

 

Topics to be discussed are: 

  • Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) Inspection Best Practices
  • The process and purpose of a residential building audit
  • Health & Safety issues inherent to applied building auditing
  • Concepts of heat loss from conduction and convention through the building shell & methods for calculating & finding them
  • Understanding Savings to Investment Ratios and practicing some of the math related to calculating it
  • An overview of the requirements for attaining a BPI Building Analyst Certification: Both field and written
  • The TIPS software used in weatherization

 

All training is done to meet the standards of the NYS WAP. Training handouts will be available to download during the course.  This course is only an introduction; follow on training, both classroom and field, in weatherization techniques is highly recommended.
