Introduction to Radon Mitigation - Online (West)

GoToWebinar Event

Course Description:

Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive element—meaning it gives off radiation— that can move through buildings as a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas.  It can be found in buildings all over New York State, including single and multi-family homes. Long term exposure to radon can be dangerous and is thought to be the second largest contributor to lung cancer after smoking.

Options are available to the WAP network through ARPA funding on how to manage or remediate radon in client housing. This course will provide background on radon awareness and review HCR/DOE policy on precautionary measures as they are generally accepted as the first step in reducing radon as part a good radon plan. The course will also introduce students to testing protocols, provide guidance on work specifications, advice on the management of an active mitigation system, and protocols for a good post inspection.
